Nolan
Crawford grew up mostly in Bangkok, Thailand where he attended the
International School Bangkok and developed an affinity for media and monetary
policy – during those teen years he listed Alan Greenspan and Peter Jennings as
idols. His enthusiasm drew him to Boston University where he studied mass
communications and received a minor in Economics.
After
a short stint with a company that sold armored vehicles to the US military in
Afghanistan, Nolan became a financial reporter with ThaiDay newspaper, the
local insert for the International Herald Tribune, and then joined Viet Nam
News as a sub-editor when the Bangkok paper closed after the 2006 military coup
– nothing like the smell of revolution in the morning.
Now living in DC, Nolan continues to freelance as a reporter, while finding ample time to reconnect with old friends and loved ones.
